In cooperation with our  WIE (Women in Engineering ) affinity group, we are proud to announce the first “Women in Engineering’12″ Workshop as LC Istanbul which will be held on 4 – 11 March 2012, in Istanbul, Turkey.
In the light of mission of WIE, we will start the discussion the position of women in society and business life and their problems in working places ,and, enterprising women in business. In addition to all these issues there are  many special  trainings that contribute our participants the development of their personal and career. We are glad that our workshop has a special day for all women  on 8tf of March, International Women’s day, we will end our workshop with famous people from art and bussiness life.

Istanbul has become the capital of 3 biggest empires of the history; Roman, Byzantine and Ottoman Empire. So just guess how old the city is and how much diversity and historical richness it includes. We are going to take you to Topkapı and Dolmabahçe Palaces where the Ottoman Sultans resided, the Hagia Sophia Museum from the 6th century, the Blue Mosque, Basilica Cistern and some more surprise beautiful places. Participants will also have the chance to watch both Asian and European Part from the middle of theBosphorus when we are making Bosphorus Tour as a tradition. You will taste Turkish Cuisine, Nargile and Rakı with Turkish hospitality. Can you imagine a street where about 1 million peopele walks on just in one day? That street’s name is Istiklal and parties will be held in Istiklal Avenue which is the most crowded and crazy street you can ever see. Please do not forget to bring extra SD Cards for your camera, because your card will be full at the end of the first day!

Hello dear EESTEC-ers, after 2 years LC East Sarajevo is back! We are proud to present you “Jahorina Spring Break”, unforgettable event that will take place from 20th to 27th of March 2012.
Academic part will be held on Jahorina (our Olympic mountain), where International Scientific Symposium – Infoteh 2012 will take place. You will have opportunity to listen lectures from the experts, scientists, engineers, researchers and students that deal with information technologies. We provided hotel accommodation for our participants, transport to Infoteh and back.

Non academic part will be quite hedonistic and relaxed, but full of various activities, such as swimming, bowling…or just lazy sitting in pub and drinking beer/coffee/juice/rakija/whatever…
We will also visit Orlovaca cave and beautiful well of Bosna river. Sightseeing and visiting city landmarks are also part of the program. During these 7 days you will taste our traditional food and drinks. We will organize traditional Serbian night with our live music, and people dressed in traditional Serbian clothes.

And at the end, thing that you are waiting the most…….YES! Parties will be every night on various places!

And this awesome event is going to take place in a beautiful City of Niš. It has been gate between East and West. It has great cultural and historical heritage. One of the most important persons in European history, Emperor Constantine the Great, was born in Niš (roman name NAISSUS) in 272AD. Because of that, Niš is also known as The Emperor’s city.

You will visit Fortress of Niš that exists at this place for more than 2000 years, and has layers from different historical periods. That’s because Niš has been gate between East and West, so many civilizations passed here and they left some trace in the fortress. It’s in this condition since XVII century, and now it’s one of the best preserved fortifications of Ottoman style in Europe.

We have rich historical legacy, but we have even richer offer of national foods and drinks. You won’t be hungry at any moment and you will be able to enjoy in our best meals. Don’t forget our traditional drink- rakija!

Due to its success last year, we have decided to continue with the topic. It will make you aware of the importance that networking each other has. A networked society allows us to save time, money and energy when trying to communicate each other and it can make things easier in case of necessity. In our workshop we will analyse and treat the presence of networks and communications in every aspect of our lives. Nowadays people is more connected than ever, and a big part of our communication takes part in the so-called “social networks”. Most of us have smartphones in our pockets, and couldn’t think of living without being permanently connected. Furthermore, networks are also present in every other aspect of society, such as health-care, commerce and learning. We can truly speak of a “Society of the networks”, the “Network society”. For that reason, we have prepared several lectures carried out by different companies just to show you their cutting-edge projects and visits to laboratories and research centres to see exactly how they work.
But that’s not all!! We have also prepared for you non-academical activities. You will have the opportunity to explore every secret place of Madrid during the City Rally, to taste Spanish food and drinks (I know all of you like Sangría) and feel its atmosphere during day, but specially during night!
At the end, during the weekend, organizers and participants will stay in the countryside. What we will do there is.a surprise! Still thinking to apply?! Seriously?!
Finally, as we always say…  We are so sorry to have to say this, but as we don’t apply for EU grant, every year we have to make great efforts to find sponsors for our events, and although last year was faultless , we expect an exemplary attitude from all of you and we friendly ask you for cooperation and comprehension. Irresponsible attitudes won’t be tolerated and in case it happens, participants will be warned and eventually expelled from the event if warnings are disregarded. When it is time to party, we have party (and trust me, we will do! ;D), but when it’s time to work, we must work (and later we have party! ^^).

Tās kontrolēt var ar mikročipa palīdzību, tāpēc tev būs nepieciešamas nelielas zināšanas C valodā, lai varētu kontrolēt šīs gaismas spēles. Protams arī būs atpūta un lieliski pavadīti vakari skaistajā Hamburgā ar citiem studentiem!

After years of silence LC Hamburg is finally back on track and proudly presents its new production: „The EesteCube”
The curtains haven’t been raised yet, but our short “trailer” will give you some hints of what awaits you. In the main role are starring ten (eventually up to 20) professional Eestecers.
The story takes place in the greenest and probably most beautiful city in Europe – Hamburg. The plot consists of unforgettable nights at the famous ‘Reeperbahn’ street, visiting the second biggest harbor in Europe, an adventurous city rally, and “tasting” of German beer. And all these amazing scenes will be enlightened by the unique LED Cubes all of our smart main characters are going to build.
They are going to be 5x5x5 single colored LED Cubes controlled by an ATmega32 microcontroller. Each of the 5 LED layers is driven by a D-Flip Flop. The controlling of this 3D LED matrix will be managed by time multiplexing.
The scenario will be presented by our professors, however in order to pass the casting the actors should have basic C programming knowledge.
So put your costumes and makeup on and apply for this fascinating workshop.
The premier will start on 27th February and end on 5th March 2012.

As EESTEC’ers, which are the best students in their faculties, we are all trying to be good engineers in our fields, but do you think only technical lectures we have had is enough to be a good one? If you say “No way!”, you need the correct TOOL! LC Ankara is proud to announce a brand-new international event, in cooperation with EESTEC Training Team:TOOL, a.k.a. Topic Oriented Optimized Learning.
TOOL is a week-long soft-skills training and academic lecture series on various themes. The idea was born among EESTEC Training Team, after the first “soft-skills training” event of EESTEC, Tools For Action, also organized by LC Ankara on 2009. The main motivation behind TOOL is to spread the knowledge within EESTEC and create the future leaders of it! Interested already? Wait for the details…
Theme of this first EESTEC TOOL is “Engineering Economics & Management”. From 10th to 17th of March 2012, EESTEC’ers will attend trainings and lectures on various topics in this frame. The academic part of the event will be divided into two parts:
First part is various soft-skill trainings that will be delivered by EESTEC Trainers. If you are interested in this kind of an event, you should have heard about EESTEC Training Team and how well qualified trainers take part of it. So, participants will receive trainings on topics like;
•    Project Management and Scheduling
•    Risk Management
•    Strategical Planning
•    Organizational Continuity
•    Budget Planning
Second part will be academic lectures, again on the same theme. Lectures will be delivered by professors who have worldwide prestige on their fields. The topics will be;

The time has come for LC Athens to announce its next workshop called ”Think Smart, Act Green”,  which will be held from January 29th until February 5th!

The subject of this workshop is (you guessed it right) renewable forms of energy, a topic that concerns all of us. So the participants are going to spend the week learning -from our best professors in our faculty-, about how they work, what forms of renewable energy exist, and their importance to today’s world. But that’s not all! We’ll also visit the first energy autonomous village in Greece!!

Moreover, concerning the practical part, participants will be divided into groups and they will make solar-panel models, where the most effective one’s team will be awarded!

There will be also trainings held by our famous trainers Thanos and Grigoris!!

But really, have you ever met Athens by night??? This is another very important reason to apply for this event! LC Athens will take care of you every night and take you to the best places in Athens! (I’m not saying anything more, there will be surprises! )

You will also taste traditional Greek food , our famous ouzo and delicious desserts

We are excited to announce that this winter all roads will lead to the capital of Serbia. This December, LC Belgrade is organizing our eagerly awaited winter exchange “Freeze the Time!”. The spotlight is on showing our fellow EESTECers why Belgrade is known as “the city that never sleeps”.

No matter when, if it is during the night or day, our participants will get the chance to see how hedonism is present in all aspects of life in Belgrade. Walking through the New Year’s decorations of Knez Mihajlova Street and visiting numerous restaurants, bars and clubs are excellent way to enjoy Belgrade, especially when the end of the year is approaching. Dressed in white, our city will show you that there is no such place in the whole world where passion and European elegance is so naturally connected.  But don’t forget that you are coming to the land of Nikola Tesla and that’s why you will also have the chance to enter the brilliant mind of this scientist. But that is not all! As the end of the year approaches, all students in Belgrade, which of course includes you, prepare for the well known costume ball in our favorite students’ club KST. So be ready to put some crazy costumes in your suitcase. And in case you’ve missed the Suit up Day, don’t worry, LC Belgrade is taking you to the traditional ball on our faculty where you’ll get to show your moves on the dance floor.

Apart from worldwide famous nightlife, you will have the chance to spend a few days out of Belgrade, try out our delicious cuisine and of course discover the spirit of Serbia that lies in a bottle of our national drink rakija.

Yes you read that right!!! 30 EESTECers means this is the third biggest EESTEC event after EESTEC Congress and ECM.

Now let us tell you a little bit about RoboMAC…

RoboMAC means students creating scientific robots using off-the-shelf materials. What that means? That means that you will learn to build a robot that will do a specific job, with only the materials that you can buy in the local hardware store. Cool right!!!  And at the end of the week in the biggest closed sport venture in Macedonia – our national arena you can start the thrilling competition and check out how good is your robot . Racing, sumo wrestling, programming an AI task oriented algorithms, or simply play “hide and seek” with your robots in a maze, and all that in front of lot of audience and the media. It means you will be a TV star that day in Macedonia. But that’s not creative enough ??? No problem !!! Use your creative mind and take the challenge to program a Humanoid that will be capable of doing some crazy stuff, like Macarena dance .

You don’t know how to do this, but you want to learn? That’s why we have asked our professors from the robotics and AI (artificial intelligence) departments to teach you, and show you everything.

But wait!!! We haven’t told you about the fun part!!! In Skopje we party only on New Year’s Eve and the days that end on “day”, like MonDAY, TuesDAY,…., SunDAY. And bear to forget to visit the local Kafanas. Also we promise to keep the tradition of organizing the glamorous wine night where you will be enjoying best wines in Macedonia! Among all things, we have organized you an attractive trip, cruise with the tourist boat in the Kvarner bay, parties on the beach, crazy city relly, visit to Opatija, one of the most beautiful cities at the nothern Adriatic Sea, and many, many more.

It is very easy to find us. You can travel to here by train, over Zagreb or Ljubljana, by car, bus (driving on new and high quality highways), or by plane via one of the nearby airports (Zagreb, Ljubljana, Venezia). LC Sarajevo is proud to announce that eMovie Academy is becoming a tradition, and it’s your chance to make your dreams come true . 7 days of glamour on one of the biggest European movie festivals, 7 days of an unforgettable atmosphere which one awesome LC will provide for you, 7 days of pure EESTEC spirit, 7 nights of crazy fun and a lot more!
The academical part of the event will consist of lectures about movies, editing, and filming. You will learn about editing a movie in professional software tools. Lectures are going to be held by experienced people in the movie domain, meaning that after them you’ll be able to (and you will) make your own movie .

In the period from 22.07. until 29.07. Sarajevo becomes overflowed with people, visited by famous actors and movie lovers from many countries. This is the period of one of the most respected movie festivals in Europe – the Sarajevo Film Festival (www.sff.ba). During these days Sarajevo lives 24/7, and we will make sure that you feel it from first hand experience through unforgettable nights, parties, people, and also by arranging accommodation at the center of the city.

After great success in organizing Trainers Meeting in October 2010, LC Banja Luka is honored to present our next workshop called Let the penguin in!, that will be held from 23.07 – 29.07.2011.

Topic of our workshop is virtualization. You will learn about major problems and development of this framework, implementation, purpose – server consolidation, load balancing, security, types of virtualization and concepts used alongside. Academic part will include interesting lectures from experienced teachers from the field and hands-on labs on GNU/Linux distribution – Debian.

This week will be incredibly exciting because of three things:

1. International Debian Conference – this year DebCon11 will be held in Banja Luka. We will use this opportunity to introduce you to Debian distribution and go to Debian Day. There you will listen to experts from this field. You can find more about this conference on http://www.debconf.org/
2. This will be the most exciting week in Banja Luka because 4^th Demofest festival is going to be held at the same time! Demofest is festival and competition of young demo bands from all over the Balkan. This year 438 bands applied and only 30 will get the chance to compete. Also, you will listen to Tricky’s, Kelis’ and Skindread’s concerts (type of music: rock, metal, punk, reggae).

3. Our workshop J As always we promise you a lot of great food and crazy parties. LC Tampere is organising a workshop called Plone Sauna Sprint 2011. If you are already familiar with Plone and Content Management Systems and want to becomea Plone guru or want to learn finaally how to use Plone in an enthusiastic environment, this workshop is for you.
Workshop is organised in Tampere and in cottage near Tampere. First you will hear some intrucing lectures about Plone. During the week you will will finally get your hands dirty coding and develop features in it. You can also feel the real Finnish cottage life with sauna and lakes. You will get a mobile broadband connection to the cottage so you can code even outside and enjoy the Finnish summer at it’s best No need for sleep, since the sun is shining 22 hours a day!

Tiem, kas nezin, un tiem, kas zin (jo atkārtošana ir zināšanu māte ) – par EESTEC būtību vairāk var palasīt Šeit. Latvijā mēs esam tikai 3 gadus, tāpēc katru dienu meklējam jaunas palīdzošas rokas. Un tieši TU vari palīdzēt mums organizēt vietējus un starptautiskus pasākumus, piedalīties Eiropas līmeņa organizācijas darbībā un, kas ir pats aizraujošākais, doties pats uz kādu no semināriem, apmaiņām vai treniņiem visā Eiropā!

Daudzi cilvēki jau ir iesaistījušies EESTEC Junior Local Committee darbībā un nenožēlo to. Mēs nedosim tev zelta kalnus, arī darba auto vai dzīvojamā platība netiks piešķirta. Tomēr tu iepazīsies ar citiem RTU studentiem (kā arī 52 citu universitāšu studentiem), iegūsi praksi liela mēroga pasākumu rīkošanā un iegūsi veselu gūzmu ar patīkamām atmiņām.

It is another big gain for EESTEC, since we have spread our organisation in another European country, Russia, therefore adding to our cultural and national diversity within EESTEC.

Saint Petersburg is a city and a federal subject (a federal city) of Russia located on the Neva River at the head of the Gulf of Finland on the Baltic Sea. In 1914 the name of city was changed to Petrograd, in 1924 to Leningrad and in 1991 back to Saint Petersburg.

Saint Petersburg was founded by Tsar Peter I of Russia on 27th May 1703. From 1713 through 1728 and from 1732 it was the capital of the country until 1918 when the central government bodies moved from Petrograd to Moscow. It is Russia’s second largest city after Moscow with 4.6 million inhabitants. Saint Petersburg is a major European cultural centre, and an important Russian port on the Baltic Sea.

Saint Petersburg is often described as the most Western city of Russia. Among cities of the world with over one million people, Saint Petersburg is the northernmost. The Historic Centre of Saint Petersburg and Related Groups of Monuments constitute a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Saint Petersburg is also home to The Hermitage, the largest art museum in the entire world. A large number of foreign consulates, international corporations, banks and other businesses are located in Saint Petersburg.

EESTEC GOT THE POWER!

LC Famagusta proudly presents Power Island where the participants will be able to fullfill the power of eeStec to every part of their bodies.

The workshop will contain, sessions about the Industrial Usage of High Voltage as well as technical trips to Thermic Plants all around the island. During the workshop, participants will be able to discover the latest technology in our Technopark such as 3D laser printers, robotix and other new developments of our university labs and realize the island technology.

Do we need to mention about Parties ? We will bring our participants to our spring fest where they will enjoy the 2003 Eurovision Song Contest Winner and 2009 MTV European Music Award Winner. We are inviting you over to share the great fun in our tropical campus with more than 15000 students including people from 68 different countries. Yacht Party, City Rally, Windsurfing, Karaoke Parties, Discos, Sea, Sun, Beach Parties, Beaches and Beaches… what else do you need?

You will miss a lot if you miss this event, that’s for sure but you are already aware of that, aren’t you?

Any hesitation would be greatly not accepted! We will be more than glad to answer your questions about anything.

This workshop will cover some interesting points about the interaction between nano technology and medical engineering. There will be lectures, about both topics as well as a hands-on lab on the development of nanosensors on a
bimolecular basis during which you’ll learn how to build your own sensor.
We’ll be cooperating with two departments in our university, so the lectures will be held by our professors.

Of course you will also see the great city of Munich, experience the Bavarian way of life and Bavarian hospitality. Also be prepared for Munich’s nightlife and some unforgettable parties.

The workshop will conclude with the International Motivation Weekend. This event will be held at a house in Austria (near Salzburg) with a great view. Here you’ll be participating in soft-skill training and, of course, more partying.

The academic part of the workshop will cover the same topics as last year (difficulties and barriers for women in engineering jobs, women’s networks as well as job- and life-planning), but these topics will be approached from a different angle this year, so, even if you participated last year, it might be worth it to apply again.

Furthermore, there will be a women’s contact forum during which you’ll have the opportunity to interact and exchange experiences with other women working in engineering jobs.

Apart from the lectures, we’ll of course be showing you the city of Munich, it’s nightlife and cultural aspects.

The event is organized in form of workshop with set of lectures followed by labs. The main focus is on developing Android applications. The entertainment part of the event is based on Rabadan Carnival in Bellinzona  (http://www.rabadan.ch), this is the most famous and the craziest event in Switzerland. We would kindly ask all the participants to bring carnival masks in order not to feel stupid there Guided tours around beautiful Lugano lake are foreseen as well. LC Podgorica is happy to invite eight of you to join 3 days long snowy party in tourist centre of National Park Durmitor and winter sports of Montenegro – the town of Žabljak,  which is situated in the north-west of Montenegro, 1450 meters above sea level.

Beside extremely good parties, visitation of National Park and other interesting activities, LC Podgorica will hold training on the topic of Team Building and Project Management. Accordingly, you will have a chance to meet a lot of your colleagues from Electrical Engineering Faculty Podgorica.

But nowadays everything is global, we all are interconnected with everything, so our society lives and works in NETWORKS.
For all these reasons, we have created NETWORK SOCIETY, a new kind of event for us during which, through conferences, seminars and visits to laboratories and research centers, we will try to offer you a wide overview of what is being done in this fields and how our global society is growing up through the network.
This amazing project will be held in Madrid from 3th April 2011 to 10th April 2011.

Okay, okay, that all sounds very nice and interesting, but what about the party? WE WANT PARTY!
Don’t worry, as we always say: Madrid NEVER sleeps.

After our third edition of “Conquer the markets” LC Zurich is proud to announce our new workshop “Zurich interactive”!
Despite of the new subject many of the well-tried parts like our famous tram-party and the city rally will take place. In small groups you will do programming on our self-made interactive dance floor, which detects movements on it and can be enlightened in different colors. It’s possible to create games like Snake or Tetris.
Besides playing with the dance floor we will visit a chocolate factory and go one whole day skiing! Like every year there will be many parties with much free alcohol We are proud to announce that we got the “Youth in Action”-grant, which means a big part of the travel costs will be paid and almost everything during the week!
As part of our equal gender philosophy, we will prefer mixed applications. While we aren’t following the “First come, first serve” principle, the time of your application will be considered.
If you don’t have skiing equipment and want to go on the ski-slopes it’s possible to rent it. For us it is important that everybody who wants to ski gets the possibility- for this we will pay a part of the renting and ticket costs!

The main topic of the event is ‘photograph’ and ‘photoshop’.Event will be 2 parts;first part will be teorical,we will give some sessions about how to produce a professional photograph,usage of a professional  camera,details of taking pictures and using photoshop professionaly .Sessions will not be only informative but also funny.Second part will be pratice,we will go to the area of Anadolu Universty,to the beatiful nature and historial places of Eskisehir and into the city,to take some good pictures together.

Paralēli robotbūvei, visi semināra dalībnieki izbaudīja viņiem nepierasti auksto Latvijas ziemu, kultūru un apskatīja divas skaistākās pilsētas Rīgu un Siguldu.

Dalībniekiem bija sagatavotas nelielas orientēšanās sacensības Rīgas ielās, kuras nedaudz ekstrēmākas padarīja fakts, ka āra temperatūra bija stipri zemāka nekā dalībnieki ikdienā bija pieraduši. Turklāt šoreiz apskates objekti bija jāatrod bez kartes, tikai ar komandas spēkiem, tādējādi veicot dažādus smieklīgus uzdevumus, ne tikai Rīga tika apskatīta, bet arī komandas biedri iepazīti. Daudzi augstu novērtēja iespēju sasildīties ar malku Latvijas nacionālā dzēriena aukstā ziemas vakarā, iemācīties dejot tautu dejas. Daudzi dalībnieki pirmo reizi dzīvē kāpa uz slidām un iemācījās slidot, dziedāt populāras karaokes dziesmas gan ne tik pierastā latviešu, gan savas valsts valodā.

Visi pasākuma dalībnieki bija aicināti apmeklēt vienu no RTU Ziemassvētku ballēm, kur ikviens izbaudīja, kas ir augstskolas balle, jo kā atklājās, ļoti daudzās ārvalstu augstskolās šādas balles netiek rīkotas, bija iespēja dejot balles dejas un ne tikai.

Nedēļas nogalē, kad visi sumo roboti jau bija uzbūvēti un bija izmēģināti nelielās robotu cīņās, dalībnieki tika aizvesti uz Siguldu, kur viņus sagaidīja nākamie pārsteigumi – pirts un pēc tās iespēja izpeldēties ledus aukstā ūdenī vai izbaudīt pikošanās priekus.

Pēc nedēļas nogales atgriežoties Rīgā, visiem organizatoriem tika pateikts lielais paldies un izbaudīta atvadu ballīte, kurā lielu prieku dalībniekiem sagādāja organizatoru sarūpētie suvenīri, kā arī uzņēmuma „SAF Tehnika” sarūpētā balva labākajam robotam, kas aizceļoja uz Serbiju.

Seminārs tika rīkots starptautiskas tehnisko universitāšu studentu asociācijas EESTEC ietvaros (http://ditfsp.rtu.lv/eestec/ ). Organizatori ļoti lielu paldies saka atbalstītājiem iRobot, Fazer, Aldaris, kā arī Rīgas Tehniskajai universitātes Datorzinātņu un Informācijas Tehnoloģijas, Elektronikas un Telekomunikāciju un Enerģētikas un Elektrotehnikas fakultāšu dekāniem par izrādīto atbalstu.

Hello dear EESTECers, LC Aachen is happy to invite you to this year’s edition of our traditional Niko-Event. It takes place from 5.12. (arrival) to 11.12. (departure) 2010. The deadline to apply is the 19.11.2010.

We have to apologize for announcing the event so late and for the short deadline!

However, we will try to present you some nice days: Instead of workshop-atmosphere with lots of learning and company-visiting, we promise you a small nice meeting in a Christmas fair atmosphere with lots of hot mulled wine, gingerbread and EESTEC-spirit! are you sick of infinite replaying “I don’t have money because of economic crisis”. We, EESTECers from LC Ljubljana, have for sure enough of this and that is why we had put all our master minds together and came to solution that we have to do a workshop regarding this problem. And here you are, with opportunity to learn once and for all how to bypass old money making system with some simple Internet marketing techniques. All that and more you will have chance to learn on workshop “Student vs. Economic Crisis” which will take place in Ljubljana (Slovenia) between 24.10.2010 and 31.10.2010.

You heard right, we are organising workshop on which we will teach you how to use internet for making money with some incredible techniques. Some of the areas which will be included in our workshop are: SEO (Search engine optimization), niche market, keywords research, Google Adwords, affiliate marketing, blogging,… So you will actually get nice generalization of several possible techniques used by many professionals nowadays.

At the end of the week we will all pack our things and let bus to drive us in Kranjska Gora where we will join our International Motivational Weekend! The first European Week of Ethics, will be held from 2-7 September 2010 in Vienna.

Aim of the European Week of Ethics is to let members of different students’ organizations learn more about the latest developments within different fields of medicine and discuss the ethical issues which might arise and the moral competences which should be used.

The theme of this week will be “Ethics in Genetics” and will be organized by AMSA (Austrian Medical Students’ Association).
Genetics in medicine is an imaginative theme, which is still largely unknown, but which science is exploring massively! After all, who has knowledge about DNA, has got the world in his hands! Developments will have major implications for the development of new drugs and therapies in the oncology and for infectious diseases like HIV. But these developments will also have implications for prenatal diagnosis and perhaps it will be possible for parents to decide which characteristics their children
should have in the future!

Engineering Competition “RoboMAC”

RoboMAC is project that popularize robotics by involving a group of students in creating scientific robots using off-the-shelf materials. With participation in RoboMac you will have the opportunity to learn about the benefits of robotics and new developments in this exciting area. Also you will improve networking with another participants while exchanging experiences and working in teams in a competitive international environment. The competition will be in five disciplines. RoboMAC will animate your creativity, make you feel the thrill of the competition , and at the end, for the best team, feel the taste of the victory.

And, I should probably mention that you will get ECTS for participating in this competition.

Those of you who had already taken part in one of LC Belgrade events know what to expect J . This time, a kind of event that Belgrade hasn’t organized for a long time – an exchange! No lectures, just fun, all day long!

The first three days of the exchange will be spent in Belgrade. Participants will have the opportunity of getting to know all beauties and wonders of Belgrade in springtime through interesting activities during the day and craziest parties during the night!! Since Belgrade is located on the confluence of two rivers, you will have the privilege to see it from a different point of view – we will take you on a boat party! Imagine this – a pleasant cruise on Danube, a magical view of Belgrade in the night, while getting wasted on famous and traditional drink of rakija!

After the Belgrade craze and city jam, we’ll escape to the sea-side. In Čanj, Montenegro, 2000 electrical engineering students who came for the 50^th traditional Elektrijada will be waiting to party all day long!  Besides the parties, we will organize an excursion to one of the most beautiful bays of the Adriatic see, and you are bound to experience a few more surprises!

Naturally, you will have the chance to enjoy traditional Serbian cuisine, pljeskavica, ajvar and other national dishes!

As this is a very long event and no academic part makes it harder to do successful fundraising, we may be obligated to introduce a participation fee of 40€.

LC Krakow is proud to announce an event expected for a long time: workshop “KrakYourNet v2″, which you can be part of from 17th April to 24th April 2010.

The main topic will be Computer Network Security. Hi there! LC Tampere is eager to have some EESTECers to join the fun with us in the Academic Kyykka World Championships. Kyykka is a very old Finnish game, where players try to outplay their opponents with tactics, power, accuracy – and pure luck. The World Championships is a not-so-serious competition where students from all over Finland gather and enjoy the game and especially the atmosphere around it. There will be more than 3000 players in total. Players can e.g. even try to gain more points by bribing the judge. After the games there will be an official Kyykka-party downtown Tampere where winners get their rewards and a front line Finnish band (this year Don Johnson Big Band) performs.

Of course you get to know the Tampere University of Technology and the city of Tampere. Tampere’s population is 200 000 with 35 000 of that students – a heaven for student life! In the Ethical Hacking workshop we will offer the participants a week of insightful professional presentations and lab exercises concerning digital security and parties that are legen… wait for it… dary!

The professional part of the event includes the following topics: overview of ethical hacking: pros and cons, dos and don’ts! Security on the web, current issues: phising, cross-site scripting, etc. Wireless security lab: the participants can try what they will have learnt: hacking into wireless networks. As most of you know, leaders need to be skilled in team building, strategical planning, facilitation, communication, time management, fund raising, etc. T4A offers you opportunity to get these facilities through the interactive tools/methods like trainings, round table discussions, and brain-storming and helps you to perform them efficiently in your LC or in your student organization. LC Istanbul plans to organize its new workshop between 13th and 20th of June The main subject is RFID (Radio-Frequency Identification) .
As you know, RFID is one of the fast growing technological topic, that derives more attention, as new implementation areas are being discovered. More and more companies and universities, as well as governmental bodies, are trying to do research on this topic and develop new products. So, as EESTECers and engineers, we thought that this topic will be very beneficial and interesting to our dear participants. During our workshops, we’ll learn about history and different implementation areas, such as cryptology, labelling (using tags) in industrial products, military application and some more, as well as security problems of RFID technologies. Lectures will be held by very experienced teachers of our University, as well as some guests from The Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey and companies that are specialized on RFID technology.

Knowing that 7 days is not enough to show most things in a city that has more than 17 million people, we are going to try our best to show you as much as we can. (we think that, we could manage it so far…) Istanbul is full of beauties, cultural activities, historical places and nightlife of course This city has become the capital of 3 biggest empires of the history (Roman,Byzantium and Ottoman). So just guess, how old the city is and how much diversity and richness it includes. Many historical places are included in the UNESCO World Heritage List and the city was chosen as European Capital of Culture for 2010. We are going to take you to Topkapi and Dolmabahce Palaces where the Ottoman Sultans resided, the Agia Sophia Museum from the 6th century, the Blue Mosque, Basilica Cistern and some more surprise places. Participants will also have the chance to go to Asian Part of the city and watch Europe from there We are also planning a Bosphorus Tour as usual.
The parties will mostly be held in Istiklal Avenue which lives 7/24 (that’s no LIE), which is full of cafes, bars, nightclubs and entertainment all around.

The accommodation will be in a guesthouse near the sea, so you will have the chance to walk near the sea at nights, and swim if you are crazy enough . We promise you Turkish hospitality as usual and traditional delicious dishes as well.

When it comes to the academic part, it will concern IT Security. Our professors are going to deliver lectures concerning briefly the security on all layers followed by the practical part including Wi-Fi sniffing, breaking WEP/WPA. usage of different types of VPNs and other topics.

So, the workshop will be very academic. You will be able to learn and practice about this wireless technology which entered our country recently. The technology is new and very promising, still developing so you will be able to follow the new technology and to be update. For your work here we will try to accredit the workshop at our Faculty of Electronics and information technology. We hope that we will manage that and offer you at least one ECTS.

Skopje has a big history, so we will try to take you to the best places and teach you something about them. You will hear about the house of mother Teresa, the fortress

We also plan to take you to our gorgeous city called Ohrid, situated at the Ohrid Lake. The lake is protected by UNESCO. The city is breathtaking and memorable. It is full of historic places and more then 365 churches in its surroundings.

This year workshop (“Chupakraba Electrico”) main theme is “Robotics, a synergy of mechanics, electronics and software”. This includes presentations about robotic arms, mobile robots, submarine robots, flying robots and wind turbines all held by leading experts in these areas. The workshop is organized in co-operation with IEEE (lecturers
are all esteemed members of IEEE) and participation will earn you 1 ECTS point.

As we all know the best thing about visiting another country is to know it better. Its customs, sights of nature, historical cities and of course people. Talking about food on one sunny day we’ll treat you with barbecue (the most popular way of food consumption in this area). For those of you who just want to have a pensionary trip – better stay at home because every night will be a party night (of course!?)! We’ll take you out to Zagreb’s most famous clubs and also have some “EESTEC only wild nights” (and we all know how that looks like   ).

Educational part of this Workshop:
You are going to learn how to protect your computer, yourself and your data. You will find out that just software security sometimes isn’t enough. We will show you how hackers do it and how to protect your data and communications with encryption. There is also going to be a <<gaming da>> in the middle, where you’ll be able to play some retro games like Pac-man, Mario, (C64). Right before the end we will have a contest where you’ll have to show us what you’ve learned during the workshop.

We’re proud to announce our first event for 2009! Due to the high success of our last event, we’ve decided to strike back with the same topic for this year’s workshop: E-Health. The topic, (as maybe you can infer from the title) is Bioengineering and Telemedicine. The event will be held from 12th to 19th April. When there is time to party, we party (and trust me, there will be! ), but when it’s time to work, we work (and later we have party!).

Not only are you going to learn about recent trends and technologies in mobile and telecommunication industry, you will actively take part in developing your own IP-based application, that will be deployable on a range of devices, including mobile phones, PCs, set-top boxes, PDAs. You will get to know the latest production-quality IMS open source development framework, called Service Development Studio. As SDS is Java-based framework, it is highly advisable that you be familiar with object-oriented programming (OOP) and have worked with an OOP language before. Do not worry if you do not know Java, the first day will be dedicated to basics, so you will become comfortable with IDE and language.

Of course, there is so much more to taking part in this workshop than what you have just read! We are working hard so that you will spend unforgettable time here in Ljubljana. Eeducational part of this Workshop:
PETT is a traditional workshop, where we discuss about current problems and future challenges in power engineering field. This year’s topic will be ELECTRICAL ENERGY INDEPENDENCE.

Energy consumption everywhere is increasing every year, although there haven’t been many investments in infrastructure and new renewable resources. In past the system has always been re-dimensioned, so regular users (people) now don’t aware that the whole system is on the edge of its capabilities. I the last decade, ways of producing electrical energy has been drastically changed, in addition to that, the whole concept of production and distribution of electrical energy is on doorstep of its changes. Instead of big producing units with conventional resources (nuclear plants, thermo plants) and one-way distribution system, we have now mass of small, low power renewable resources (wind turbines, solar plants…). Can we cover all of the needs for electrical power with renewable resources, is fission more appropriate, or do we expect from scientists to handle the process of fusion?

Participants will receive lectures by some of European most acknowledged experts and professors, on:
*) renewable resources
*) nuclear energy
*) transmission of energy
*) overview of current situation in energetic in Europe
*) distributed generation of electrical energy
*) vision and future plans for European electrical energy development and more
On practical part will participants make some of practical experiments and make some solutions on current problems in energetic field, which concerns our every day life. There will be also excursion to nuclear power plant Krško.

As we say in Ljubljana, WORK HARD, PARTY HARDER!!! There will also be plenty of time for sightseeing and attending parties in local clubs and pubs. After the long but still to short(!) week, we’ll take you out of city for the weekend to relax and to get some outdoor fun.

Educational part of this Workshop:
There will be at least two days of lectures and presentations. Of course, workshop will be about telecommunication networks. The main topic will be Next Generation Networks and IMS and their key role in delivering multimedia services (including voice, pictures, text and video, or any combination of these) across fixed and mobile networks. We will discuss how this convergence of networks and services affects implementing triple play, and what will be further development of future telecommunication networks.

Brave ones will take part in a rafting tour down the Vrbas river. It was planned as an obligation for every participant if the Workshop was in summer, but since the water is very very (even more very) cold, only those who really want some more adrenaline in their blood will raft… what am I saying … of course that everyone will raft. Free aspirin (with rakija) and warm blankets will be given afterwards.
