Students’ life consists not only of ones and zeros of the binary code, the students self-government of DITF (Faculty of Computer science and Information technology) helps to diversify it.
The main task of students’ self-government is taking care of other students.
It includes:
- hearing what they feel deep inside and helping them to overcome it;
- making them feel comfortable in the faculty;
- forming cultural and sports activities as well as organizing educational enterprises;
- being the shield and protector of students’ interests.
The members of DITF students’ self-government are the representatives of DITF students in various RTU organs such as the council of DITF, The commission of dividing grants, the Students Parliament of RTU, the RTU Senate, the Academic meeting.
The main directions of DITF SP are:
- Direction of studies – produces suggestions of improving the quality of studies; organizes different enterprises related with IT area or improvement of the learning process.
- Direction of finance – plans the budget of the self-government, carries out financial calculations and attracts sponsors.
- Direction of culture – promotes the prevalence of creative spirit by organizing various cultural activities.
- Direction of sport – executes the selection of sportsmen for The Cup of RTU Rector and The Cup of FSP (self-government of faculty), organizes various sport events.
- Direction of PR – communicates with students of DITF, forms the public image of DITF, organizes PR activities and informative maintenance of self-government’s homepage.
- Membership management – organizes motivation enterprises for the members of self-government, selects and admits new member, maintains the internal documentation.
The traditional projects:
Summer camp for the first course students „Noraujies no ķēdes” (“Break forth from the chain”):
In the end of August the most active first course students have a possibility to find out useful things about studies and get to know each other before the others have this chance.
Advisers of students:
Co-operating with DITF administration, each group of the first course students has its prophetic adviser who helps in solving instructional questions. This attentive man helps young students to adapt in university environment more quickly.
Freshman’s proof:
Full-fledged students are not born; they become full-fledged overcoming bitter and difficult challenges.
Christmas ball:
There is a possibility to celebrate Christmas beautifully in the end of the year: to pull Santa Clause by beard; to dance with course mates; to dream a little and to feel like real princesses and princes.
„Jautrās pleznas” (“Funny Paddles”):
Before the session students can go out on Dance-Dance-Revolution (DDR) and get the power for passing their session easily.
„Darbs grib studentu” (“Work wants a student”):
Discussion for employers and students about the labour market in IT industry and about skills and knowledge what are necessary for students in the labour market.
The third Easter:
There is the first Easter. There is the second Easter.
And there is the third one – Easter of DITF. In this event DITF study forces and students participate in traditional activities: rolling and throwing eggs; mouth washing in the sainted spring of integrals; contest for the title „Olēdis” (“Egg Eater”).
